You want either a Subaru WRX STi, Mitsubishi Evo 8 (although needs servicing every 4500miles to keep it in good shape), or if you can find one in good nick, a Nissan Skyline R34.

You need a bad-ass one with a big toothed gear, the plastic handled ones are plain useless.

There's nothing wrong with Mobile phones, it's only annoying when people shout at them, however you can hear much better with newer ones, so it's less of a problem these days. I don't have a problem at all with text messaging. Never seen a Sedgeway! I can imagine they would be annoying...
