U.N. dork slams U.S. as 'stingy' over aid

Actually, 15 or 50 million dollars is in fact little to nothing compared to what's needed, it helps but it isn't substantial.

I'm not implying that it is everybody obligation to help (hell I think we haven't given money to them), just that the help given is better than nothing but still close to nothing.

I don't think that'll make much of a difference to some. We're still Public Enemy #1, persona non grata in the U.N. which we helped found, and which takes up a lot of expensive real estate in MY freakin city.

Fuck the U.N. is right.

I totally overlooked that post :confuse3:

But billions is what I'd call substantial help. :wink2:

Not ONE dime!

Yup that'd be a good amount.

The money would be better spent on nearly ANYTHING!
A supercollider, a trip to Mars ANYTHING!

Hell give it to unemployed Americans through the unemployment program
spend it on welfare and food stamps Jeez anything but this!!!!

No one will point out the obvious reason the death toll is SO high!
No amount of aid will change a anything there.

Not to mention that the US has non-governmental agencies that will be doing more then many nations. (its capitalist, non-socialist thing)

US relief > rest of the world relief combined

Shhh...Don't bring up the obvious. That would mean that they have to ask for our help, and maybe even say 'Thank you'. How humiliating, that you must ask the one you hate the most for help...and they give it to you without thinking. I say we do what Leslie said those few years ago...absofuckinglutely nothing. Not one penny. Let them dig their own way out, and pay for things out of their own pockets. It's not the government's job to pay for things like that. If private citizens want to give, then fine for them, but the government needs to have a 'hands off' position on this, right, Leslie? ;)

Theyre probably afraid that the Israeli 'spies' will steal their 1950's technology.

'Don't let them see the sharpend stick! They will steal it!'

Food aid is all about increasing the power of large multi-nationals like Acher Daniels Midland anyways, didn't you know that?!

God knows, those EEEEEEVIL US people don't do shit without an ulterior motive.

First off, fuck the Fin. He's talking out of his government paying everything, socialist country living, government job having, living in the US off the backs of the rest of his Finnish comrades, ass.

Secondly-These numbers need to be straightened out. The $15,000,000. was an initial offering (already passed $35mil) by our government. The only "donations" counted by the UN is government backed cash. The United States miltary already landed several C-130s full of water, foods, medicines & other necessary goods...goods that haven't been tallied for cost. Also, over 30 US relief agencies have already moved & are preparing to move more goods & workers to the regions hit. Not only that but the Red Cross (and similar private or public agencies) have already gathered well over twenty million in private donations.

As of this afternoon, citizens in the US, in some form or another have gathered & sent way more than the "official" tally. We are the predominate world supplier of goods, services & cash in every emergency.

alright let's get real about this
unless you wanna build all these zillions
of 3rd worlders High-rise penthouse condo's
and give em' all Beammers (wait they don't have roads)

then all you need to do to
"provide disaster relief"

Is bulldoze the 60,000 plus bodies into mass graves
and provide clean drinking water until the normal
parasite ridden drinking water supplies are restored.

15 mil would cover that lol

It occured to me today, after hearing the UN spokeman open his trap....

Assuming Darwin was right, why are we going there & doing anything? Isn't all of this part of natural selection?

Really all they need is bulldozers
and a supply of fresh drinking water.

We could get that stuff there in hours.

For the worlds most powerful nation investing billions of tax-payers dollars towards killing people for a war without definate aim or reason and countless other expenses - It was stingy.

However, hasn't Bush now doubled that...? that is something that deserves a mention; though it should have been at least that much in the first place... :eyebrow:

The UN guy that made the comment has now taken it back and apologised, poor guy - he had to, but at least they'e managed to squeeze out that extra relief from him because of it :D

now that's better. It's aboot effing time.

As the number of victims goes up overseas, so do the dollars Canada is contributing to the relief efforts in Southeast Asia.

Defence Minister Bill Graham has confirmed this country has added an extra $36 million to the aid it's giving the afflicted countries. That brings the total to $40 million – and more could be coming, as the tragedy unfolds.

this is cute. they had to be ordered to come back? :alienhuh:

Foreign Affairs Minister Pierre Pettigrew and International Co-operation Minister Aileen Carroll have both been ordered home from their vacations to deal with the crisis. But Prime Minister Paul Martin won’t be back until the weekend.
