It was one of those inset ones too so replacing it properly would be an arm and a leg so now I have to give up some of my valuable counterspace to a new one.
Counterspace is always at a premium! I am most likely going to move my beer label removing station into the garage or something....Nixy said:I am very sorry for your loss...but based on the pictures I've seen counterspace isn't really a rare commodity in that kitchen![]()
unclehobart said:Absolutely! If its just a microwave alone ... probably a $200 fix ... whereas a countertop model is no more than $30 these days. If its a contractor special combo oven/micro ... kee-rist! ... $700 plus.
Ah, I see. I guess that makes sense since cooking for that amount of people will always mean leftovers. There's only two of us, so we can usually gauge quite well how much food we need, so there's no leftovers, and soup just gets heated on our gas ring - heats up really fast.tonksy said:We used it for reheat things like leftovers or soup and for popcorn.
unclehobart said:Steve... Yeah... its tied into the oven. The oven controls are mixed in with the microwave control pad. If one goes... they both go.
The oven controls are on the same panel as the microwave buttons.Luis G said:Can you "cut" the microwave part and leave the controls?

I know what you mean, this one is different. I can see where the microwave comes out and if we take it out the oven controls come with it. It's an all in one hook up deal, you know - for our inconvenience.Luis G said:But I meant to cut the part of the microwave that does not contain the controls. It might leave enough room to put a new microwave oven.
Might not look "nice" but it could save some space.
