There are reasons for taxes - like paying for necessary military actions (which have next to no effect on STATE spending). I agree with tax cuts in general, but I think the last round was poorly timed, and has resulted in hefty federal budget deficits, which in turn have somewhat eroded the value of the dollar (the EU's internal fuckups notwithstanding).

Temporarily lowering your intake with the long-term objective of increasing the tax base, thus increasing the intake, is a proven method to increase income. It works every time it's tried.
There is a point of diminishing returns. We just have a long way to go before getting there. During the short term wait, wouldn't it be prudent to cut inessential expenditures? Do we really need to fund art or lazy bastards when we're at war?

Absolutely salient points, but let's face facts. Without a super-majority in Congress, you aren't going to get those spending cuts in any kind of hurry. You simply won't. However, you don't have to cut your own throat in the short term. You can wait to address the long term benefits of tax cuts for a few years, until this war is paid for.

What is the yearly cost of duh war.
Now ya can't add in the normal defense
expenditures and you can't say:
"Since 09-11 we've spent thus and so".
Nah one of the two things I intensely dislike about the Bush administration
is their overspending, the other is the pandering to the illegals.
I shudder to think what the last four years would have been like with Algore instead!

I'd rather have the whole enchilada than the dime-and nickle pay raises I've been getting, which, incidentally, put me in a higher tax bracket. Either that, or an ID card get's you all necessities free...(food, water, clothing)...

Absolutely. They should also pay a competitive salary commensurate with skills and experience. BTW, I work 45 hours per week. If I work 50 I take home less. Wonder if you bitch about it as much as I do?
