Has anyone tried this new one yet?
I wonder if it fixes the screwups the sp3 provided. :bitchslap

I've installed it, and it seems to make thing work alittle faster.
I wonder if it puts some spy crap in there like xp has?

i'm waiting to get a d/l of this from work, i'm still running sp2 because sp3 and my install didn't get on at all. i'd certainly recommend installing it with the ininstall option on just in case.

I think I'll pop over to ms update later and download it after I've made a restore point of course... maybe it will resolve the issues I seem to have with windows media player.

Yes and it freezes every so often for a split second... but realplayer also does that, so it may be a compatibility issues with my sound card or something - SBLive 5.1 Player - works OK with Me.

Too cute for words
Sad, isn't it. 3 years after the release, and they're still fixing it.
Let the end users do your beta testing. It's the Microsoft busieness model.

RedHat is sending out updates about every 2 days too.
I think Linux is alot more stable though. That's why I'm
schooling myself on it hot'n'heavy right now, to make a
major switch over.

The worst problem I had was backups.....
I have norton "ghost", and if I backed-up, and changed
harddrive and then tried to restore it, with sp3, it always
gives an error about the swap file, and won't start windows.
It didn't do that with sp2. I haven't had to try it yet with sp4.
I also have 3 digitizing programs that just don't work with sp3,
that do with sp2. Again I haven't gotten to the point of checking
those yet with sp4. There are some other issuses with ie, and mp, and
sp3, but I don't fell like doing all that typing.

If you don't use ie, you ought to switch to Linux. :headbng2:

*thinks about starting his own Linux movement*

I'll wait until the word on the street is solidly formed before I download. I waited the same way for sp3, and heard a lot of bad stuff about it; that's why I still have sp2.

Fresh install of win2k, i installed sp3 and defraged, speed was ok, then i decided to try sp4 (i had nothing to lose except for the time spent downloading it), haven't had a problem yet, and i've noticed some speed up in boot and shutdown times (not defragged yet).

Well so far....
sp4 seems to have stabilized a couple of the issues with WMP, and IE6,
and seems alittle faster, and more stable over all, buuut
there are still some compatibility issues lingering from sp3, that I
didn't have with sp2.:(
It did seem to close quit a few security gaps in my LAN, while still
communicating good.:)

It almost seems like a cross between 2000 sp3, and xp. IMO so far:shrug:

I put it on one of our labs. Its also on our office machines and my machines at home. No problems at all, all positive stuff (boot times and software load times decreased). I also started putting it on customers' computers in the store today.
