Sits back, lights a cigar.

I'm thinking the rest ill behavior is a combo of getting molars and a siblings recent birthday and accompanying slew of presents which are not for her.

Now, Inky. You know I wouldn't do that. A 2x6 is far to unwieldly. 2x4 at worst.

so how did her parents react to your proposing to her?

Very well, actually. I waited a while to actually make things official to give my parents a little time to get to know her and get comfortable with the idea of her being around.

I looked. Thread was started 9/22. Maybe more than 6 weeks, but certainly less than two months.

heh i just yahooed 'Vernon' - there was as movie made about the eccentric residents!
man it is a small quaint place - i thought you were joking!

source: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083281/plotsummary

there was somet about the movie maker exposing this thing where the locals would cut off their own legs to claim the insurance or somet' ...but the link (after one hit???) seems to have now exceeded its geocities bandwidth!

City of Vernon - http://geocities.com/cityofvernon/index.html

hooboy!

Good on ya sharky - first good laugh of the day!
best, BB

:rofl2:
Hehe! Yeah, Vernon is quite a place . . . if you want to see just how small it is, take a look at the Google satellite view.

Netflix has that movie on DVD. It really is a hoot. I know some of the people in it. Not much has changed since that movie was made - the town looks pretty much the same. Everybody knows everybody. I have had mail delivered with just my name on it - no address. :lloyd:

The deal about people cutting off their limbs for insurance money - they were cutting off fingers, not legs. The town has the nickname "Nub City" because of it . . . you still see old guys around town with a digit or two missing. :D

When Errol Morris came to town to make the documentary, he had to drop the idea of a film about the insurance scams, because the locals threatened to string him up. So he made "Vernon, Florida" about the locals themselves.

Engaged? you serious?

Since no one here has said it, I will. Congrats, honestly. May she makes you happy.

Congrats Inky! I'll be the second one! If she makes you happy and you feel it's the right thing to do, then all the best. Just don't rush into the wedding. You can always have a long engagement.

So how did you propose???

Jeebus man. Somebody smack him already.

One more time, inky. Ya don't need to get married to have sex. Sheesh. :lloyd:

Oh, trust me, he's having plenty of unmarried sex right now. He gave me all the details, quite unrequested.

"Hi, Inky, how's life treatin' ya?"
"Caity and I had sex today."
"Wow man, that's good to hear."
"She gave me a BJ the other week."
"Uhhmmm... great!"

Jeebus...Rob didn't do that in the beginning did he?

Inks? Congrats...but I second the motion for a long engagement.

Well, to be fair, Inky and I are typically very open when it comes to discussions. If I was getting some, I'd probably give him a play by play description of it.

No, he never would caption the pics he sent out, always just left it up to us to figure out what you were doing. That's ok though, I've got a pretty good imagination.

Caity, if you ever read this, I didn't really give altron a play-by-play description of our sex life.

As for how I did it... we went to her favorite spot downtown and talked for a bit, then I did it there. She knew why I was there and she still cried when she said yes. We'd been working on stuff for the wedding for a little while... I just hadn't gotten a ring until Monday.

So far, the plans call for June 23.
