Gonna wash that grey right outta my hair

Grey Area

Hate that gray? Take a pill to make it go away! An unexpected side effect has researchers studying a drug normally used to treat leukemia. French doctors found five men and four female grey-haired patients being teated with Gleevic, ended up having their hair colour actually change back to its original shade of black.

Researchers are trying to discover if others have experienced similar side effects, puzzling over why it happened, whether it's common and calling it a 'mystery'. Complicating their probe: many of the women in the study already coloured their hair, making it difficult to track the changes. Like most therapy involving drugs, the change is gradual. The hair colour restoration reported in eight of the nine known cases took about 5 months, while one saw changes only after about 2 years.

Experts caution the apparent shade restoring effects of the drug don't mean you should take it if you don't need it. They want to do further study to see whether their discovery is an anomaly, and if not, why it has that hair hue alternation effect. Meaning they'll be using their grey matter to study these grey matters.

I've never really understood the fascination with stalling the outward effects of aging. We all age. Many men go bald (myself included). Hair turns grey. Get over it, deal with it gracefully, move on.

I, too, am going gray...Life goes on. I also have a receding hairline...Life goes on. But the day i need Viagra, someone's going to get hurt... :D

i think i'm not going to have a problem with "gray-white hair", from my mother's side all of them have "silver hair", which looks kinda coold :D :D

I don't have it, and won't be having it within the next 20 years, but when I do, I wouldn't care. Wouldn't paint it, would just let it be as it is...

Nothing wrong with grey hair :)

My thoughts exactly.
I've also never understood why some people feel they need to change the way they look. People nowadays don't seem happy with their hair color, body shape, facial features.

Having no problems at all!

At first I just didn't care how other people thought I looked.

Now I hear I'm sexy and cute, so I know I'm doing a good job :)

See? Being yourself does pay off :)

I've been pretty lucky so far, have really thick hair, and only a couple gray hairs in my beard, but I can shave those off. One of my grandfathers was completely bald by 50, and the other had white hair by the time he was 45. I'm only 32, but I'm still trying to figure out which I would rather have, figure it almost has to be one or the other.

Balding ain't so bad. Easy maintenance. :p

I started balding when I was 18. A little spot showed up on the back of my head. My barber noticed it and pointed it out. I was in denial for awhile, but when the front started receding, the truth was plain. There's precious little left on top now, but a nice thick fringe around the sides.

I started getting grey flecks in it in my early thirties. I figure in about another ten years it'll be mostly grey. Meanwhile, my dad's 63 and has a full head of hair that's just now starting to get a little silver. :p

If I get my family's hair genes (doesn't matter which side, both bald fast), I could be bald before I turn 40. I already have a far back hair line in front except for the center giving me an Eddie Munster look in front which is more annoying than anything. Every time I need a cut, I just get it shaved with the #2 razor. It's not that I'm crazy about keeping the same haircut, I'm just not going to worry about my hair.

My cousin is almost bald and he is only 20.

My ex- next door neighbour was grey by the time he was 18!

Thanks, now I don't feel so old (I'm only 20 and I'm aging, aah!), except when I'm reminded that my eyesight is about 1/4 of the way to being legally blind...

My grandmother was completely gray by 20. I find a few here and there but the women in my family are blessed by thick hair.

My hair has been turning from light red to dark red to brownish over the years. My Mom went brown before she went grey and that seems to be the way I'm going.

I liked my hair lighter so I kept trying to dye it so it would be the color it used to be. After 6 times, I finally found something that works. It was my first foray into a successful hair coloring and I quite like it. I don't feel like I *need* to change my appearance to feel better about myself--I look at it like wearing a new outfit that I know looks good on me. :)
