what's happened to my avatar?!! It's some drunken cat!!

after I first signed up I could use an avatar, even a custom one.
I went to change it, and it still worked fine, I went to change it
again, just now, and it won't let me have one at all.

I see it says you need 100 post to have a cutom one.

Was that recently change?
No biggy, but are there any std ones to choose from, until I
get my post count up.

It may take me a while. I'm not one to post line after line of
one sentence bullshit stuff.

There is definately a pile of default av's somewhere. Hunt around in your cp.

working there. I'm not going to try to change it, til I get

Maybe you have to use an img tag for the av since its uploaded already.

I changed it so you need to have 100 posts for a custom avatar, but it shouldn't have been retroactive (members who already signed up should still be able to keep them)

Maybe you have to use an img tag for the av since its uploaded already.

You can't use IMG tags as avatars. The only options are uploading from your computer or uploading from a URL on the internet (e.g. entering http://www.mysite.com/myavatar.jpg in the URL box, not [IMG]http://www.mysite.com/myavatar.jpg[/IMG])

Either way, the image gets stored on the server and used from there.
