My bf went to school in Boston for four years and I've visited just about every year for the last 10 years. When I get home, I'll give you a better reply.
In the meantime, where are you staying? Also, do you like fun stuff, touristy stuff or educational stuff?

I will just be sleeping on the ship when I am there. I am not sure how long we will have, It will be at least a day. I hear the drinking age there is 21?!? That really sucks! I will probably be stuck alone with the duty watch onbord the ship when everyone else is out drinking. Ah well..$1.25ish/beer onboard
I like educational stuff, mainly military history. I am not really into the tourist deal but if there is any exceptional places, I may check them out. I would really like to try out some American bars.... but damn! I am still mad over the drinking age

Ditto on the Freedom Trail but it's quite a walk and it might be a wee bit cold. But the 15th stop on the trail is the USS Constitution, a warship and the USS Cassin Young, a WWII destroyer. I've toured the Cassin Young, it was pretty cool.
Also at the harbor is the Chart House (best damn New England Clam Chowder I've ever had), the aquarium, and trolley tours which are also very cool. What's nice about the trolley tours is that you can get off at certain sites and pick up the next one. Hopefully they're not open air trolleys at this time of year but you never know. Honestly, the best way to get around, especially when it's cold, is their public transportation, the "T". It's really easy to follow and cheaper than a trolley ride but you don't get the history.
A good site to start you off: http://www.boston-online.com/faq.html
Man, it's too bad you don't have time and warmer weather. There is so much to do in Boston, so many places to go. Tours, buildings, shopping, parks, walks... We've done it all and keep going back.

The plot of the show was set in Boston. That doesn't mean the show was actually filmed in Boston. In fact, it was probably filmed in New York or Los Angeles.K62 said:Wasn't "cheers" filmed in Boston?
