Agreed Although I sometimes wear socks because its cold. But I'd say roughly 80% of the year I'm barefooted.

I have several pairs of shoes. I would leave muddy ones outside and slip into a fresh pair. Its pretty much 1 pair of boots and like 3 pairs of Nike sneakers ... its not as if im talking about hard cobblestone shoes or dress shoes and whatnot. Im always going in and out of my house. Its just practical to wear real shoes full time in my case.

Theres no real cause for getting mud on my shoes in the first place nearabout my house.

Everyone I know wears regluar shoes in the house. I didn't think it was a rarified thing to do.

Um I know that, but ... what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? In the majority of countries I've been to its polite to take off your shoes when entering someone's home. That includes all parts of Canada I've visited.

Hmm, I guess it is one of those northern / southern things. Everyone I know takes their shoes off before going indoors. That includes all my friends, and my roommates, etc.

Hehe, interesting how different we can be and yet live on the same continent. So... uncleH, if you go to someone else's house, what do you do?

I usually take my shoes off... I've never had any trouble with that, but I did get shit a few times when I didn't do it (ok this was in the East). In general I think its cleaner too... You don't dirty up the house with cold snow and all that. (OK that doesn't work in the south I guess, but you have .. mud or something?)
