Metrosexuals?

Hey, you men out there, would you consider yourself a metrosexual?

I'm just asking because my husband & I were watching the news and the weatherman was soooooo metrosexual, very pretty boy.

I guess that I'd be a retro-sexual...though I have been known to buy a nice dress-shirt or tie when I see one. If I have to wear the bloody things at work, I might as well look good doing it. :)

Though...the whole "undeveloped sence of style" thing bothers me. Just cause I'm not in the mood to spend hundreds of dollars on a new suit, new haircut, manicure etc...doesn't mean that I have an undeveloped sense of style!

Out of curiosity...why the ending 'sexual' ?
Why not: metrovisual or retrovisual; metroaesthetic vs retroaesthetic

There's no tie in with sex or gender.

I think it's to better distinguish from "Homosexual". While metrosexuals share some of the tendencies of stereotypical gay male behavior, they ain't necessarily gay.
 
the term "metro" seems to have come into use lately as opposed to metrosexual, perhaps to better define the ethos.

and FTR, i'm somewhere in between the two, i'm too miserly to be metro.

Aah...Unc's definition didn't mention that. So...metrosexuals are so obsessed with the way that they look that they appear effeminate?
 
Not necessarily. But obsessed as a woman might be. As opposed to the classic male who'd wear mismatched shoes because it's more comfortable.
 
Metrosexuals are basically your stereotypical gay man but they like women.

Which means that they are many women's dreams come true...no more "why are all the good ones gay?" :la:

uh uh...speak for yourself. i like men that are men....men that take 15 minutes to shower, shave, and whatnot...and leave the sprucing and decorating up to the womenfolk.

I'm retro too. It's really helped by the fact that I'm kind of a cheapskate. Maybe that's why I get my head shaved, make it take as long as possible between haircuts.
 
I'm neither "metrosexual" nor "retrosexual", I like to look good, smell good and feel good no doubt, but spending considerable ammounts of money and time to accomplish it, is just out of question. If i see a nice pair of jeans or a lotion, and I also see some cool electronic/puter stuff, i'd pick the latter anyday.

So, 1 vote for heterosexual :p :p
