This statement is really unbelievable. You insult not only my husband's integrity, but mine as well. How my husband and I divy up our familial responsibilities has no bearing what-so-ever with the discussion at hand and is clearly meant as nothing but the lowest form of personal attack.

You can't really lump all "Southerners" into the same category anymore than you can "Northerners". There are many regional differences just as there are everywhere else. I've not heard this one either, but I've heard lots of good ones, mostly from Ards dad.

Unfortunately, some folk can't feel anything but jealousy when they come across someone who they percieve as having something "better" than them. For all those girls knew, the "sexy godess" could have been a complete wreck.

Ards grills the best steaks ever, no lie. No sauce. We've got some friends that will buy steaks and invite us over for dinner, just so Ards will do the grilling. (OK, I guess they kinda like us too, but Ards grilling abilities is a darned good excuse for an invite).

Yeah, most people wouldn't probably. Like I said, I never watched the show, so that's the first thing that pops into my head when I hear the name. It all comes from being traumatized as a kid by the whole event.

Which would be why I generally stay the heck out of the RW. Real life is contentious enough for me TYVM without generating more of it on purpose. But then, I'm a chicken-shit weenie about confrontation and I'll be the first to admit it.

I think it most likely that there is no one cohesive system that can be gleaned from the series, because there were multiple writers. Certainly, the characters would be "out of character" in certain episodes.

Ah, yes, now I see the reference (stupid of me). I never watched that show and in these parts, the name Ted Bundy is just as well known, unfortunately.

Schindler's List - it's not the dispair that keeps me from watching it, but the sheer emotional impact of the movie. It's one that lasts a really long time.
