What breed of dog is this?

Sharky

He showed up on my doorstep a couple of weeks ago and hasn't left since. Yes, I have been feeding him.

He's probably a mutt, but looks like some kind of terrier. I looked on the AKC website but he doesn't look like any of the purebred breeds. Anybody know what kind of dog this is?

I named him Pikie Dag.

He needs a bath. :eh:

i'm pretty sure it's a piedmontese terrier.

either that, or it's some kind of mutt.

yep, prolly of the mutt variety.

great name, BTW.

He looks like a cross between a Cairn Terrier and an Australian Shepard...he's cute!

That's what I was thinking - he probably does have some Australian Shepard in him.

He's smart as a whip. I've already trained him to sit, stay, sit up and beg, and bark on command. :)

Damn, it took me forever to doo that to my dog, how old is He/she?

Dunno - he's a stray that showed up one day. I'd guess he's only a couple years, though. When I take him to the vet for shots and a flea/tick dip maybe they can tell.

Did you try to find the orginal owners? well even if you did that is there loss, he is really cute.

I checked the "Lost Dog" flyers on the bulletin board in the Vernon post office, but no joy.

He didn't have a collar on, so it's possible he was abandoned.

I will send a photo of him to the pound and post a "Found: Dog" flyer in the post office with his photo in case someone is looking for him.

However, anybody who lets their dog(s) run loose is assuming the risk that the dog(s) may get run over, hijacked, or lost. Or, as happened to my next-door neighbor's dog, carried off by a hawk.

So if the dog doesn't come home, tough titties.

Especially after Halloween and fireworks and the front door being constantly opened. its not unheard of for good dogs and good owners to be seperated ,through no fault of there own.

True dat. But I live way out in the boonies, and EVERYBODY lets their dogs run loose. You could say, "Ya can't swing a cat without hittin' a dawg around here". :lloyd:

Yes, he looks rather muttish. He kind of looks like my grandparents' dogs they used to have. Grandparents told me the dogs were rat terriers. But after looking up some images online, now I'm not sure. The intarwebs pictures show short haired dogs. Mickey and Minney were shaggy, like Pikie.

but if i get it wrong, you'll feed me to bricktop's pigs? :D

With bacon, for the Bricktop's pigs reference.

Yeah, he must be a mutt, he doesn't look like any specific breed I've seen yet. I think tonksy is close, with the Australian shepard - he looks like he's got some of that in his lineage. That would explain the smarts, and he's not lazy - he almost always looks alert like in the pix.

A hawk, are you serious???

so what is it?

In the movie "Snatch", Jason Statham's character "Turkish" visits a pikie (gypsy) camp with his sidekick to buy a caravan (camper trailer) and they meet Brad Pitt's character "Mickey O'Neil", who offers them a "dag", which is how "dog" sounds in the pikie dialect.
