The true meaning of Rudolph

I think that if one examines the story of Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer, one can see that the meaning clearly implied is that people are of no value until they can prove their worth.

What brought on this profound insight?

Wasn't Rudolf originally created for a Montgomery Wards ad campaign?

I don't even know the story of Rudolph, therefore I can't agree nor disagree

That's lunacy! The point of the story is that everyone, even those who are different, have their strengths and are of value if only they (and we) look for it!

I agree with Mark...Santa requested rudolph lead the sleigh, after he realized rudolph's red nose would be of value in the fog...rudolph never had to "prove his worth" prior to Santa asking for his help.

Once again, the "true" meaning of Rudolph is marketing. Of course, that is in keeping with the "true meaning of christmas, isn't it? BTW, before anyone jumps to any "bah, humbug" conclusions, I love christmas. It's my very favorite co-opted pagan holiday. :D

It's amazing to me though, how many people will argue whether or not truth is subjective.

I thought the moral was that everybody sucks-up to the Boss. (Santa in this case)
and when he picked Rudolph...

Rudolph was a reindeer with a bright red light for a nose. The other reindeer made fun of him for being different, but then Santa needed his red light nose to see his way through the fog, so from then on he was the toast of the town among Reindeer.

Of course, it's all sung in rhyme. But that's the outline of the story.

Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, had a very shiny nose
and if you ever saw him, you would even say it glow.

All of the other reindeer, used to laugh and call him name,
they never let poor rudolph join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas eve, Santa came to say,
"Rudolph with your nose so bright, won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him, as they shouted out with glee,
"Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, you'll do down in history"

There's also a little part at the beginning of the song that's sometimes sung that lists all the other reindeer...it goes as follows but it's not really necessary to know the story of rudolph...

You know, dancer and dancer, and prancerm and vixen. Comet, and cupid, and donner and blitzen...but do you recall, the most famous reindeer of all??

I remember the song, too... but chose not to sing it, figuring there's no need to subject us all to that.

Suuuuure and if Sir Isaac Newton hadn't figure out gravity then I would have been able to, I just can't prove that I could have because he beat me to it. I also would have been able to figure out Pythagorean's Theorem...but again, can't prove it because he already figured it out...
