Death of the analog broadcast...

I've had satellite for years now, but the broadcast in my area went digital for the February changeover date.

We won't miss it until a national emergency happens. Digital is great, as long as there aren't any flaws in the system.

On the upside, now we don't have those incessant "the digital changeover is coming" ads.

...nah, we do now :p Canada's not quite over that particular hump. Still have analog channels..for a while, at least.

A very low powered uhf signal can be received & viewed. With digital it either is, or it isn't.

Received and viewed is just a saying, the noise can be too high that the content becomes unintelligible.

As for digital, it can take a lot of noise and still be of better quality. Granted, after some point the signal will become too noisy and the content you'll get becomes out of sync, jittery or scrambled.

However, with both technologies too much noise will make the content hard to view.
