2012 Movie

The trailer was enough to know I don't want to waste money on another CGI disaster in which the main character just barely outruns the lava, tornado, etc.
On the other hand, The Road looks like it will be good. Much more realistic. If it's half as good as Cormac McCarty's novel, it will be worth watching.

Saw the movie. Horribly offenseive to the intelligence but the seeing the Earth get destroyed like that is enough of a reason to see it. Just interesting to see such imagery...reminds me of I am Legend...another dumb flick but seeing NYC emptied like that was mesmirizing.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Not just a wimpy 5 minute run of effects, either. It was not believable, but still imagination worthy.

Even if you were to accept the plausibility of the plot, there are way too many mistakes in the filming (spoilers ahead highlight to read)

- When there's the huge eruption breaking mountains and fields the nearby airport experiences no earthquakes whatsoever, in reality earthquakes are felt several hundred kilometers away from the epicenter, yet on this movie a 10+ one is not perceivable at at most a couple km.
- The guy has taken one lesson as a pilot, yet he manages to do some real smooth moves in the small airplane.
- When they drive out of the big plane because they ran out of fuel the airplane explodes when it crashes. What is it that makes things explode, could it be fuel?
- and many many more

It reminds me of why I had little interest in GI Joe. We rented that, for shits & giggles. Dumbest movie I ever saw. A cartoon that was trying to take itself seriously.

Any comparisson beteween the two?
