I was watching the sitcom "King of Queens" last night, and the husband was upset because his wife wore her hair in a bun.

What's wrong with a bun? Is it not liked by the general population? Majority of females in Hawaii wear our hair in buns. I didn't think it was a big deal :shrug:

I have a bun most of the time I'm at home. So easy. Husband thinks I look like a schoolteacher though... :D

I can't get my hair to stay in a bun, how do you do it? I would love to, especially in the summer. I wind up twisting it and then putting it in a bun, wrapping a scrunchie around it and then wrapping another scrunchie around that, but that doesn't seem to work either. I have very thick hair.

Buns are probably common in hawaii because its keeps it up off of the neck thereby letting heat escape rather than build up.

Hmmm ... *thinking of hints I can give you* ... wind, twist, knot, scrunchie. That usually works for me. I have thick hair too. :D

Last time I did it, it was just touching my shoulders (http://www.greenfreak.net/other_stuff/short_hair.jpg). I think I'll do that again, or maybe a tiny bit longer. It won't be shorter than that but when I'm going to take off at least a foot of hair, I use the term 'chopped'. :)

If I chopped off a foot of hair, my hair would still be down to the middle of my back. Maybe I should get rid of some split ends ...

Maybe that's why my hair is so thick ... its split so high, each strand makes two :D

That's funny you say that... When I was in my teens and damaged my hair daily, it was so thick and frizzy because of the split ends. I used to sit and pull them apart. When I get my hair cut short after having it long, the difference in weight on my head and neck is really strange.
