View Full Version : What's the last meal that you cooked...
...that people (even yourself) have seriously said "Wow, this is great stuff" to, without having to be polite?
A few days ago, I cooked some broccoli and alfredo pasta and baked some chicken that was moistened with an egg and covered in a seasoning (kind of like shake & bake, but generic) and both things were cooked to perfection. I was so sad that I had only made 3 pieces of chicken, cause it was so farkin' delicious :(
Spaghetti Casserole...
ground beef, celery, onions, green pepper, sauteed, then stewed for 20 minutes with a can of tomatoes or two, and curry powder. pour over cooked spaghetti in an ovenproof casserole, with about a pound of cubed cheddar, stir, bake till all melted together.
:licklips: mmmmmmmm!
That garlic dip :D I don't usually cook for other people though, not right now.

The nephs love when I make baked spaghetti. Lots of hamburger and mushrooms, put it in a pan and throw tons of cheese on the top. Yummmmy...then some french bread on the side with garlic butter
Okay, that's it, I'm hungry ;)
Garlic dip don't count as a meal, LL :P

If you'd happen to get out from underneath that rock (or out of that rope tied to that tree, maybe? :retard:), you might know what a REAL meal is :D
If you'd happen to get out from underneath that rock (or out of that rope tied to that tree, maybe? :retard:), you might know what a REAL meal is :D:rofl2: I haven't cooked an entire meal, ever. I usually make something for myself :)
Sometimes it's fun to cook an entire meal, even if it is just for yourself.
When I'm alone and don't want to cook, I'll find a package of meat to gnaw on or a can of chunky soup (with a lot of meat) and throw in some cottage cheese and a few glasses of (insert soft drink here) or so.
When I'm alone or with my brothers and don't want to cook too much, I'll fix some ramen noodles (:hairbng2:) or macaroni and cheese, and hot dogs.
But I sometimes get in this mood that makes me want to cook a meal, and I hit the nail on the head almost every time, scoring a perfect lunch/dinner that took a long ass time to cook for a little bit of food, and it'll leave me wishing I'd cooked more than that.

Shepard's Pie. I have a couple of secret ingredients to make the meat really really tasty.
I don't cook normally. But I do bake. I make a mean coffeecake and dirt. :)

I cook very rarely, but my parents liked my 3-layer pizza with spaghetti sauce I made once (recipe from my father, but modified by me) :)

Well, the missus took the kids out to a church supper, so supper tonight was
Swanson's Salisbury steak with mushroom gravy, potatoes, corn, and apple crumb dessert.
I may need to pump my stomach later. I'm hoping the beer will wash the taste out. The last three haven't done it yet. *phsst* Here goes lucky number four.
Warm bread with butter and sugar :P

hello... Dominoes.
My specialty is Goulash.
It's ground beef with tons of different meat sauces, BBQ sauce, spices mixed with pasta and tomato soup.
I haven't made that is a few months though.
Edit: My dad taught me how to make it. Noone else makes it like me now and even I can't get it QUITE as good as he could....
tonight. A first use of a homemade rotiserrie cooker over a charcoal bed. pork center cut loin, huge baked potaotoes, red wine & a bucket or two of margaritas. The food was good, I think. :D

My dish is the eggplant bake. Layers of italian risotto mixed through with my home-made tomato sauce (plum tomatoes, lotsa garlic, shallots, wine, rosemary, mint, liberal with the pepper, and chilli to spice it up), eggplant, a layer of the rest of the tomato sauce that didn't get mixed through the risoto, fresh mozarella, the rest of the risotto, a layer of grana padana, lots of pepper, oven baked to perfection. If I'm feeling like putting in extra work, I'll add a layer of home-made basil pesto..... :licklips:

Tonks and I just knocked off a large meal of chicken pesto pasta in a white cream sauce and a loaf of bread... all utterly from scratch of course.
This is a rare night. We're ordering in.
I made crockpot pulled pork sandwiches and potato salad for dinner tonight. Easy to set up, and it's waiting when you get home. To be fair, I did have to pull the pork tonight before I could stuff myself. :D

No. I've never had their pulled pork. I've always thought about pulling my own pork at Hooters.

Or better yet, have one of the Hooters girls pull your pork :D
The waitress I had was only about a B-cup, I'd guess. She was fairly skinny, however, and there's something to be said for proportionality.
Spaghetti a la carbonara, made with real butter and a pound of pancetta.

The last time I got a compliment... Friday... I cooked a sausage and bacon sarnie with ketchup for my man... he's very very easily pleased!
A real compliment... ooh! Couple of months ago malayan style chicken curry... I add yogurt, banana and sutanas... to what is a pretty boring chicken curry recipe using garum masala. Made my own raita too with the yoghurt that was left.

Ya-huh! Even attempted the odd onion baji (makes a right mess of your pans if a bit of the onion gets stuck to the side and fried to nice blackened mess!) Nanns I can't do though... they're more like cardboard!!!!
Do a nice chilli too with all the trimmings... tortillas, nachos, wedges and home made guacomoli (sp?) and salsa...
Stir fry and chinese... not a bad pasta... carbonara mainly and lasagne using a cheese sause not the bechemel! (sp?) more flavour... and calories!
Will you marry me? :lloyd:
Tempting...... but..... :P :D
