A majority of Americans are opposed to this healthcare bill (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/obama_and_democrats_health_care_plan-1130.html).

Congress went against their constituents, repeatedly, and passed it anyway.

So, since we are clearly no longer a Representative Republic, what is the proper description for our system of government in 2010?

No, the health care bill that is about to be signed into law does cover abortions with federal money.

MrBishop

Exactly the same abortions that it covered under welfare, medicare, medicaid etc..with federal money.

Rape, Incest and immediate danger to the mother.

So THATS why Stupak was so concerned about the bills federal funding for abortions then?

The bill opens the availability for abortion as if it we were a wart.

Women's Suffrage, Anti-Slavery Law, The Sedition Act, et...

Unpopular, but passed... some for the betterment, others against it. The politicians didn't vote following the people's choice..on either side of the aisle.

Not in it's present form.
Had they not taken out the public option those numbers would be different.

Oh, and we haven't been a representative republic since big business started buying politicians. If there were any representation then the government would be less in my business than it has become.

Federal law required many former elevtives to be mandated coverage. One of many reasons why our costs have soared.

Really Minxy, isn't it your duty to pay your exacerbated fair share of taxes to subsidize your less fortunate comrades? Say 60% of your yearly earnings.
