I gotta get me some Reeces Peanut butter cups from the kids' bags this year..lucklily for me, my kids aren't fond of peanut butter. They have to be my fav picks for best Hallowe'en candy.

My most hated when I was a kid was sour-balls and jawbreakers.

So..what's yours?

They're not fond of peanut butter? Whats wrong with them?

Reese's are my favorite too.

Never was a fan of chewy/sticky candy like tootsie rolls or Charleston chews.

 Never got into it, I guess. They also hate soft-drinks.

I got some butterscotch yesterday, just in case we get anybody.
We usually don't

I tried a tootsie roll when I was over there recently. BLEH. :blank:

I'm not a fan of reeses or peanut butter M & Ms either. Too rich.

My favourite lollies used to be "Snifters", but they don't make 'em no more. :( They had a mint outter shell, a dark chocolate middle, and mint nougat in the centre. My current favourite would either have to be licorice (incl. allsorts) or malt toffees.

My least favourite has been, and always will be jube-type lollies. I don't like that sugar-y gelatine thing.

Dark chocolate and licorice. Dark and black... like my heart.
Dark chocolate with mint is excellent.

When I was a kid I picked out all the licorice jelly beans and ate them all. I don't even think they put licorice jelly beans in the bags anymore. :( How sad.

What? What kind of sad place do you live in that there are no licorice jelly beans in bags of jelly beans anymore?! Around here there mostly definitely are still black jelly beans, my family and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. Mind you, you have to buy a normal bag of jelly beans. Jelly bellies, speciality holiday coloured jelly beans and the like are probably going to leave you disappointed. They do exist though.

The last time I searched the store for jelly beans they had all colors but no black. I wept openly in the store for the loss of the licorice jelly beans and for the open wound that appeared where my beating, vibrant heart once was. I am now only an empty shell of my former self, the licorice joy of my life gone forever, walking this grey, desolate, cold world without black jelly beans.

It's so sad...there's actually a market in Ontario where you can buy bags of Jelly Beans that are ALL BLACK. My aunt sent me some in the mail once :D

Use "meltaway chocolate" for the best sweet/salty combo.

I thought you were joking at first because my first instinct on "Chocolate Covered Potato Chips" is to hurl and run. But... if it's dark chocolate you're talkin' about... hmmmmm... 0_o ... I might seriously consider that.

As far as Tp'ing goes, our kids are 'in the loop' that would handle that- - we're safe.

Homemade Peanut Butter Cups

"Just like the candy! You'll need 30 mini (1 3/4 by 1 1/4 inch) paper cups for filling."

Ingredients

2 cups milk chocolate chips
2 tablespoons shortening
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2/3 cup graham cracker crumbs
Directions

In 1-quart saucepan combine chocolate chips and shortening. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until melted and smooth (3 to 5 minutes).
Loosen top paper cup from stack, but leave in stack for greater stability while being coated. With small paint brush, coat inside top cup evenly with about 1 teaspoon melted chocolate to about 1/8-inch thickness, bringing coating almost to top of cup, but not over edge. Repeat until 30 cups are coated; refrigerate cups.
In 2-quart saucepan combine butter or margarine and peanut butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until melted (4 to 6 minutes). Stir in confectioners' sugar and graham cracker crumbs. Press about 1/2 tablespoon filling into each chocolate cup.
Spoon about 1/2 teaspoon melted chocolate on top of filling; spread to cover. Freeze until firm (about 2 hours) carefully peel off paper cups. Store refrigerated.

I'll one-up you.

Found in candy bag: one kitchen magnet touting mammography services.

At least the toothbrush makes some sense with all the sugary candy being handed out.

Leslie
11/02/09, 06:04pm
GAK! That mammogram magnet even beats the fundie literature we got last year!!

I never ever mind toothbrushes. I think it's excellent, actually (free toothbrushes!). My issue was just with the marketing. It's supposed to be a fun night. Leave it fun.

Paul said if he were a dentist he'd hand out toffees. Har.

The real candy corn is OK. The cheap crap is nasty.

Don't like any marshmallows disguised as candy: peeps, etc.
