Our kitten Andy seems very sick, as if poisoned. I think there is little we can do but wait. But a prayer or kind thought from any of you is appreciated....Thanks!

The bottom right corner pic was taken minutes ago. His breathing is fast but shallow and he drank some kitten milk, but would not eat. He seems very disoriented. I think it could go either way.

Have you thought about going to a vet? Maybe we could expand national health care to cover kitties too.

Sad about the kitty.

(he looks fine, is its skin responsive?)

just put a word in for you mark, for the will.

did you see anything he might have gotten into, or was he outside?

Check the area for poisons is most certainly a good idea.

Check skin response by stroking. See if it reacts or is simply deadened with no reaction.
Push you finger on gums with a little pressure and release. -- see if color return quickly or remains white slowly retuning to color after 2-5 seconds seconds or longer.
Check dilation with a flashlight. -- possible neurotoxins
Check breath for odd, chemical, or other strong odor, ....urine also is you can.
Smell inside ears also for cheesy smell.
Check the entire body of the critter with your fingers looking for pain points, wounds, hardened tissue or masses.

If its cold up there you might consider covering with a bandanna or other light covering.
Do NOT give your cat human antibiotics as some are toxic to cats.

No he's still too young to go outside but he is showing definite signs of getting better. I think he ate a dropped pill or something else that made him sick, because he was very definitely very sick for a short while. We decided to just watch him a while before we started busting out credit cards for the emergency veterinary hospital 45 minutes by car away.

I believe in the power of both prayer and positive thinking. I posted here and on facebook and I don't care why he is better I just hope it continues. Thank you for your support and help.

Ya gotta be careful w/ young kittens cos they can turn very fast due to dehydration, etc. Glad it looks like he's getting better.

Yeah he still isn't back to normal, but at least he is purring and curling up with me and the other cats when he gets the chance. He also finally ate some dinner. I think he will be fine but somehow I have the feeling it was a near brush with death for a few hours there. I have never seen any animal act so quite out of character as he did. I also have never seen a cat so slow and clumsy as he was for a bit either.

He was feeling much better and attacking and chowing down on my hand a few minutes ago. He looks so serious here but he is such a funny little lovey guy by nature. His original owners took his mother and moved away leaving him and his 6 brothers and sisters when he was three weeks so he was bottle raised and thus loves people.

He has been tearing up the house, and torturing the other two guys for the past two hours! Kids, they are so resilient!

The other two are really glad they are allowed out!

A kitteh collage!

These are our babies....The second family as it were since the human ones are long since flown from the nest....

On top of course is Andy the tiger cub. He must have Egyptian Mau in him because he has the deepest tabby markings on him that I have ever seen and he is spotted on his lower body and belly.

The next, the tuxedo (yes that is the official name for the coloring), is Marley. He really has no idea he is a cat. We liberated him from the Tacoma Humane society (bailed him out of the joint!) He has not a stitch of kitty pride, and he sometimes does not land on his feet though he is an incredibly agile and graceful kitteh outside, and an amazing and prolific big game hunter, who mostly eats his entire prey. Tuxedos in my experience make some of the friendliest cats there are, and Marls, or Marlboro as I often call him is no exception!

Lastly is good old Sammers (all of perhaps 2 years). The joke was that his name is "Sambo Davis Junior", as he is all black and beautiful. He is damn near a 17 pounder and somewhat pudgy, but fast as greased lightening and extremely intelligent, far beyond the other two who seem fairly average. He thinks he is the other two's mother. He has raised first Marley and now Andy and he grooms them and is so patient with them, as he could easily kill or cause great harm to either one. We didn't get him as a kitten so his personally is a bit odd, but he is quite friendly more so when he is outside. He is a big lumox, and is forever sending things crashing to the ground in the effort to find a catbird's seat to sleep or lay on.

So there I have let you in on our second set of kids. If you can't tell I am sure getting tired of the RW, even if I can't seem to quit! My name is Mark and I am a RW addict!

Ignore the date stamp! I get so tired of resetting the time every time that stupid thing needs new batteries!

Can't you set the camers to not have that date stamp altogether? I make sure it's turned off on mine, and I really hate it when someone submits a photo to the paper with one of those because we have to try to crop it out.

Glad to hear the kitty is feeling better.

I was reading about cats earlier, trying to help my friend figure out how to train her kitten, and I read citrus fruits are poisonous to cats. Did he maybe get into some kind of citrus fruit?

Most likely ibuprofen because they always put the generic stuff in this narrow mouthed wide jar and trying to dig it out one by one with man sized fingers can be quite a challenge.

That or lisinopril for blood pressure or kidney function depending on if they are hers or mine because they are so tiny you would hardly see it on the floor.

Glad the kitteh is better. We had sick kittens for a bit shortly after getting them from the shelter...trouble breathing, sneezing and then sneezing blood. Took a week of pills to get them all better and even that was a close call. This happened over 11 years ago and I still recall the feeling of dread.

I need to tell you guys the full story of this little fella!

Truly a miracle kitteh, but I'll have to quote a facebook conversation and so I am not up for it just this minute.
