Ok so this thread is not the original. The original is elsewhere but I missed it so I wanted to clone the idea here. If you mind, well, too bad. :P
Here's the deal...
Someone posts a quote from a movie. The next person who guesses it correctly posts their own quote and so on. A few rules to keep it going:
1. NO GOOGLING. That's called cheating. Please be fair. :)
2. Anyone can confirm that a quote is correct if they're sure or have checked it against www.imdb.com or something like that.
3. If someone guesses it right but doesn't post a new quote in the next 24 hours, it's up for grabs to the next person who posts after the day is up.
4. No posting quotes out of turn.
5. If a quote is up for more than 24 hours, the person who posted it has to say what it is and give up their turn.
6. Clues can be posted if the person who posted the quote wants to
Because we're from all over the world, movies that are widely known would probably be better to post. :)
I'll leave the first quote to you. :D
I Am, in a world...of shit!
Easy one for starters.

Sounds like a jacket movie :headbang:
can we have the 12 hours hint? :D
Shadowfax
9/07/02, 12:45pm

MitchSchaft

Shadowfax
9/07/02, 05:56pm
Heh cut it out dammit! Nobody guessed the right movie yet :grumpy:
Stick to the rules.
Yeah, Hexploit guessed yours. Didn't he? :confuse3:
Shadowfax
9/07/02, 06:00pm
Uhm, no....:)
That fella part wasn't a hint :)
I'm off to bed now, if you don't guess when I get home tomorrow, I'll tell :)
greenfreak
9/07/02, 08:52pm
Once someone guesses, the person who posted the quote has to confirm it (unless it's so obvious that multiple people confirm it or someone checks it against www.imdb.com) :)
My guess is Spaceballs?
Shadowfax
9/08/02, 12:10pm
It's taking too long :D
It was a quote from The Right Stuff
Some testpilot is asked to fly the Bell X-1, and ask an enormeous amount of money...the guy from the Airforce complains about that, and so the arrogant fuck says "No bucks, no Buck Rogers"
And so Chuck Yeager stands up and says he'll do it for just his regular salary... :headbang:
Good choice he made :D
OK, enough blah blah....NEXT! http://www.x2software.net/images/msnpsycho/4.5.psycho/43.gif

i think you'd better give us another sf :)
Rules are: first one that adds a quote after one is told, gets the job :)
In this case, it's Greenfreak :)
greenfreak, Bill and Teds Bogus Journey? :confuse3:
greenfreak
9/08/02, 10:37pm
Nope!
Hint... this movie was set in NYC. :)
Hmm... no wait, he was the devil not the angel of death
The Devils Advocate? Hmm... perhaps that's the same deal.

Oh crap, Richard Gere movie, with girl dying, can't remember the name.
something about New York? Autumn in New York? am I coming out of left field with this one?
I think that's it, Autumn in New York.
Well?
oooh, does that mean it's my turn?
Why can't the English teach their children how to speak?
This verbal class distinction, by now, should be antique.
Dammit. There went my quote.

Oh, is that the rules?
Ok, I'll wait.
PuterTutor has 24 hours to claim it, not just 12 ;)
You're up PuterTutor
oops i'm sorry. I'm guilty of not reading the rules. :confuse2:
*waiting for a quote*
Can mine be active now? :P
c'mon PT...........we are waiting
oooh, does that mean it's my turn?
Why can't the English teach their children how to speak?
This verbal class distinction, by now, should be antique.
*reactivating my quote in PT's absence*
Oh hell, it's been 24 hours already? Sorry peeps.
For my Guess.
Moulon Rouge?
waaaaaaaay older than that :D
btw, I don't know if it's been 24hrs ... I just wanted to cut in line :D[/siz]
Oh brother.
My Fair lady.
My mom used to watch that movie over and over.
:banghead: lol
 mine too.
Your turn :D
Oh good. I was hoping you wouldn't be offended by the banging my head against the wall bit. :)
Ok thinking of one now.
Hey kid, wanna a hershey bar?
That sounds so familiar, but I can't put a name to it! :o
Thanks HeXp£Øi±, I'm gonna be rackin my brains for the rest of the day on this one
The only thing I can think of is Empire of the Sun - I was watching it the other day on tape. Either that, or Band of Brothers. But then B.O.B. wasn't a film...
:confuse3:
Hmm, it's close Scanty, but I guess we'd have to check it with HeXp£Øi± if what he had in mind. My girlfriend checked out Empire of the Sun, the quote from that is, "You want a Hershey Bar kid?".
Nice work Scanty. You got it first. And actually that line is used about four times in the movie as it's a running joke with the characters but it is used in a couple of different way i'm sure.
One full hug where you pressed me to your chest and held me tight would have been like the sun on my heart for a thousand years…

It's not Shakespeare. It' a very famous film that was released in the last 3 years.
It made one person very famous. :D

9/14/02, 02:36pm
Life is Beautiful?
Shit. :D
Yeah, Gladiator. Was my clue a bit obvious? lol
Well done, ris. You're up...
hehehe, cool, i'm usually crap at these things :D
ok , its not completely mainsteam...
variety's the spice of life. i like a wide selection. sometimes i'm in the mood for nasty close-ups, sometimes i like them arty and air-brushed. sometimes it's a spread brown-eye kind of night, sometimes it's girl-on-girl time. sometimes a steamy letter will do it, sometimes -- not often, but sometimes -- i like the idea of a chick with a horse.
:)
less close than you might think on those...
jeez, is no-one going at least try???
:(
I actually think I've heard that, but for the life of me can't remember where.
hint time then:
'bluntman and chronic'
should jog a few memories :)

9/18/02, 02:03pm

I just saw that movie 2 days ago :D
Muahahaha! Let's see...what's it gonna be....mhh....hard time to remember....no it isn't...'CAUSE I KNOW THE ANSWER! :headbang:
You guys want to know? You really want to know?

Shadowfax
9/18/02, 03:02pm
You'll have a hard time guessing this one :D
I had to think hard to come up with it, and actually had to look up that part in the movie to make sure I got it right :D
Enjoy!
Our fathers were our models for God. If they bailed, what does that tell you about God? You have to be prepared for the possibility that God does not like you.

Shadowfax
9/18/02, 03:31pm
Oh man, I hate you :D
All the trouble of finding that quote...I thought it was impossible to guess :(
Oh well, it's your turn again I guess :D
well, when an adult male is chasing a female with intent to commit rape, i shoot the bastard. that's my policy.
intent? and how do you establish that?
well, when a naked man is chasing woman down an alley with a butcher knife and a hard-on i figure he's not collecting for the red cross.
its not too obscure, at least i don't think so :)
oooh, right genre, sorta close :)
I know this one! ohhhhhh damn can't quite picture it!
mwehehehehe, looks i got the quote juuuust right...
i did have to watch the bit to get it spot on :)
Shadowfax
9/18/02, 04:37pm

Oh, bum, I knew Shadow's one, and I missed it. That's it, from now on I'm a hard-core guesser. :D
in a strange way that is unbelievably close  :D

Glad to be of assistance. :D

tits, now i've got to go find a quote :)
oh no, i don't need imdb, i have this odd memory for the tone of a quote.

clue me up :D
:crap: ...hmmmmmmmaaeergh... (that's me thinking)
Not really, no.
Okay, here's another clue:
There was a very famous person in it...mixed with not so very famous people. And when it came out, everyone was surpised what happened to him.
This isn't the most obvious film in the world, by the way. It's not obscure at all though, and I thought it was good (and I hardly ever say that).
I'm going to bed now. I'll think of a better clue tomorrow after work (gawd).
Ciao! :D

Clue #1: Most of the cast hadn't been in any movies before and many made this their one and only movie and never acted again.
There's another really interesting piece of trivia about this movie that I never knew till I went to imdb to find a quote. I'll tell you what that is when someone guesses it.
Gato_Solo
9/25/02, 03:34pm
Rocky Horror Picture Show?
Ok i really need to get some sleep. I saw the previous thread -what's your favorite tv show and clicked on this thread by accident, so my brain was telling me the question was, what's your favorite movie. Then i saw Gatos respose-Rocky Horror Picture Show.

person2: I don't.
person1: Then what are you doing here?
person2: Well, the line was so long I thought you were selling drugs.

I am most definitely not gay, nor do I have such tendencies. I did, however, see the movie, but only once. It was the big thing to do whilst I was a senior in high school.
Guess #2...American Werewolf in London?
greenfreak
9/26/02, 01:38pm
Sorry, Gato, no dice.
What do you think guys, is it time for me to tell you what it is?
Here's the bit of trivia that I found out about that movie:
The Coors (the Irish music group) had their start in this movie. Although they didn't actually perform any songs together in the movie, all the members played a role in it.
If you want me to tell you now, I will. Just give me the word. :)
the corrs girls have a movie? mewants to see it :D
greenfreak
9/26/02, 04:59pm
Yes ris!!
An explination from www.imdb.com:
The Corrs, the highly successful Irish band, got their start by auditioning for the film, and they each won small roles. Andrea Corr (lead vocals & tin whistle) plays Jimmy's little sister Sharon. Jim Corr (guitar) is part of the Avant-Garde-A-Clue Band. Caroline Corr (drums) appears in the audience during the performance of "I Never Loved A Man." Finally, Sharon Corr (violin) can be seen playing violin with the country & western band that Bernie joins at the end of the film. John Hughes, the film's musical coordinator, became the band's manager. Director Alan Parker later asked Andrea for a role in the film/musical Evita (1996).
Ris, it's all you baby. :)
right, something else to be got in under an hour... :D
