View Full Version : Bad Food

OK, I know this forum is "good food" but I've got a story about something I thought was gonna be good food...cook 2 eggs in a plain omlette, toast an everything bagel, lightly butter both sides of the bagel, place cheddar cheese on the bottom of the bagel, place the cooked egg on the cheese, put some ketchup on the egg and close it up...now, I dunno what about this is making it ick cause really it sounds like a tastey breakfast sandwich...but it's not...:(

Leslie

It's the ketchup

You need like...salsa for something like that.

I make egg sandwiches with ketchup all the time...I love ketchup...and only like salsa

Nixy

Also, it wasn't so bad I couldn't eat it or anything...it just wasn't the euphoric experience I imagined when I thought it up...I ate it still (mostly because I don't believe in wasting food and I was to lazy to make anything else anyway...)

I would have used spicy mayo...I make it on the fly with mayo and red pepper paste.

Bad food? I simply cannot abide tuna casserole.

I don't do fried eggs in terms of "over easy" "sunny side up" etc...only in terms of scrambled and omlette...and the only thing I really eat mayo on is chicken breast (when it's in a wrap or on a bun) or cold cut sandwiches...or in certain salads.

My Egg sammich:
Take 2 slices of sourdough bread and toast in dry frying pan, set aside. Take 4-6 slices of salami and fry in same pan until a little brown (FYI- salami has a low smoke point so don't be surprised), layer on one slice of bread. Fry 1-2 egg(s) in salami grease, breaking the yolk. When you flip the egg(s) put a piece of cheese on top to start melting. Layer on top of salami. Put MAYO on other slice of bread. Put slices together and eat with a napkin at the ready! YUM!

It is really good! As a plus it's a bit healthier for you done my way. When you fry the salami it releases saturated fat as oil. Then you fry the egg in it so it tastes salami-y and you don't use another form of oil...if you're feeling extra exotic, you can substitute the cheese for avocado.

Payton puts Ketchup in her Mac and Cheese. It taste Positively grose. I have eaten rotel tomatoes in it and that is good. I don't really like Mac and Cheese, so I have to spruse it up a bit to eat it.

Spam???? Who are you anyway???

Tuna casserole....

1 can tuna
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 1/2 cups of grated chesse
1/2 cup frozen peas
1 cup milk
3 cups of macaroni, parboiled

Combine the tuna with one cup milk and add the cream of mushroom soup. Stir together, then add salt and pepper to taste.
Mix tuna mushroom soup and milk with parboiled noodles.

Bake at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for about one hour.

Ten minutes before removing from oven, sprinkle with cheese and continue to bake until cheese melts and becomes bubbly.

It's gross!!!!!

it is most defenitaly not what my dear friend Mike calls mac and cheese, you offer that as mac and cheese to a US southerner and you might just. To a US midWesterner, a dirty look for sure.

Inkara1

I have to ask, why do you call it KD?

Kraft Dinner... in the US, it's a side dish... in Canada, it's dinner. :D

Red, a whole can of peas is way too much for one box of mac and cheese. Your best bet is to get a bag of frozen peas and boil like 1/4 cup, maybe 1/2 cup, along with the noodles so that they're not cold. A standard 15-ounce can is way overkill for one box of mac and cheese, which makes about three cups of pasta and sauce. It's only a six-ounce can of tuna, after all.

Oh, just so everyone has it clear... for the love of God, when stirring in tuna with the mac and cheese, MAKE SURE IT'S TUNA IN WATER, NOT TUNA IN OIL. I only made tht mistake once.

Better Ted than the picture of the russian Waffle House cook she was carrying around before this.

Oh my!

Actually, that's unfair of me. She has a tendency to carry around any new picture and was carrying Paytons around until I put a new one of Payton up as the background on their computer.

Yep, every time. Grow up with 3 older sisters, and a lot of life's little lessons get beaten into you at an early age.

Now I see why my uncle has been living 150 miles away from his 3 older sisters for over 30 years now... and that's the good side of my family.

For the record, I found the spaghetti sans meat today at the Newfie Store. It is indeed Franco-American and my momma shall be having her spaghetti and toast for dinner tonight :)

I definitely did something wrong today, the noodles I made for lunch ended up black and stuck to the pot. At least I was only cooking for myself. :o

Did you forget to put water in the pot with the noodles?

Must have used that new specialty water, that has a much higher boiling point.

Nope. Actually, I slipped and fell on my way to the kitchen (have I mentioned my house is a mess?) and bruised my hip pretty good, and that was just enough time to burn the noodles on the edge of the pot.

the second i saw nix's first post, i thought of something i too thought would be totally rad but ended up disgusted by, and it seems it fits quite nicely into the rest of the thread:

chef boyardee beefaroni mixed with a can of tuna (prepared with mayo).

i had thought of stirring up such a concoction for a few days before i actually did it, and i was really quite disappointed at how vomitous it truly turned out to be :(

but my favorite mix-in for macncheese (which i will now start calling KD just to confuse my my fiance Jay) is definitely stewed tomatoes. i like to eat the actual tomatoes first, and then stir the tomato juice in with the noodles and eat that.

then again, tomato with anything is usually pretty good. tonight i made some jasmine brown rice and i put sliced up grape tomatoes and soy sauce in it. mmm, so good. that rice cooker was definitely worth the $15US!

Once we were out of mayo and I wanted to make my spicy red pepper dip...well we had yogurt and I was inspired by Indian cuisine and mixed the red pepper paste in with the yogurt annd added salt and lemon juice....then I noticed that the yogurt was not plain but vanilla flavored. It was awful, just awful.

Macaroni and canned tomatoes is a staple in these parts. I was raised on the stuff, and you can get it in some mom-n-pop diners sometimes still. I don't care for the pulp of canned tomatoes though, so I just boil the noodles and add tomato juice. Yummy!

You've eaten sausage? The only difference is that haggis is made of mutton parts instead of pig or cow. I could serve it to ya, and tell ya it was Scottish Meatloaf and you've never know or care.

Yucky meat sauce with mushy short noodles in a can.

I like noodles with tomato soup...sometimes I add spices and groundbeef...it's along the same lines...no?

The soup being used as a sauce for the pasta...not the pasta being used to make the tomato soup into a "noodle soup"for the record...

I hate to say it, but I do actually like Heinz spagetti bolognaise in a tin/can... not that i can eat normal spagetti anymore... the "Free From" variety doesn't quite have the right texture... but it has to out of the can with a spoon... no heating it up, then it tastes foul!
