Just thought I'd let you know...
It's 8AM on a beautiful saturday morning, high today of 73 degrees (dunno what that is in metric and don't care). The dog is fed, the kid is stirring, the wife is working, and all other tasks are attended to.
I shall now proceed to extract (hopefully) my limit of rainbow trout from a picturesque mountain stream.
You may now return to your regularly scheduled snow removal, already in progress. :D
Heh, heh. You're really just not very nice, are you?
Of course, I'm having basically the same weather you are. :D
Just without the 'picturesque mountain stream'?

I tend to catch my trout at the Publix meat department. Using the pole really pisses them off though.

we've got a high of 42 or so today, almost shorts and t-shirt weather. The sun is bright, no cold wind blowing in our faces and the snow melting more and more.
Who said anything about shovels????
Today: Mostly sunny, with a high around 61. Northwest wind between 9 and 13 mph.
no mountains 'round here but it is quite warm for this time of year.
I'd consider the same, but we're looking at afternoon showers. Add 7 degrees to your temps, though.
As it is, I'll be doing oil changes and taxes. Yippee.
Ah well, at least it's poker night.

Considering the weather you get there, that sounds....good. :P
*Whenever gets into the car turns on the AC.
Weathers ok (very nice in relativity) & there are lakes & streams galore. I'm not fishing though. I'm going to my kids piano competition thingy.
As far as the fish goes, I'll take 3 please.
I was supposed to cover a high school baseball doubleheader today. It got rained out.
Here's the view outside my front door:

Are you coming hungry? I made a pot of red beans (not spicy, just for you) and some green beans...also a cajun rabbit roasted on carrots but I don't suppose you'd want some of that.
Nopers. I went to Christo's and picked up a gyro and some fries. Eating it now, as a matter of fact.
If I'd known you were fixing stuff with me in mind, I'd have waited. I'm just not used to food being a part of poker night.
No biggie! I know you all aren't used to it but I hate to entertain without food. Besides, now I don't have to cook tomorrow!

Tsk!! It's y'all young lady, y'all.

...as opposed to someone local scribbling down my license number and stalking me?

They can do it too...I don't mind.

'Twas a glorious day.
No fish kept, too small. Streams are too shallow right now, so I'll go back after a few rains. Broke in the new gear though, caught a couple of fish that got released to mature, and logged maybe 5 miles afoot in the process. No phone, no racket, no snakes, no civilization. All in all, I'll take it over changing oil.

Only thing better is something to bread and fry. Not a bad day, by any means.
BTW, the oil change revealed a frayed serpentine belt on the wife's fuckin' Ford. Yay.
Much better to discover it now than her discovering it on the freeway.
I'm curious as to why you were up past midnight. That's pretty rare for you isn't it?
He must have popped online after getting home from our house - Poker Night.
Yeah, and I'm paying the price today. *HomeLAN seeks out some hair of the dog*

Laugh all you like, longhair. I require precisely two or precisely four legs; no more, no less.
God forsaken legless emissaries from Hell...

Snp, has anyone told you to go fuck yourself yet today? consider that void filled.
I spent the weekend at the Salon des Vehicules Recreatifs. 6 hours of touring the latest and greatest. Now I need to decide wether to buy parts and upgrade, or invest $17,000 in a new one.

That anything like an RV show, just takes longer to type it out?

It's exactly like an RV show, but with more class.
Blew my mind that there was a rep from the Louisiana tourism board on site. They're scrambling to try and rebuild a trashed tourism industry any way they can.
Everything in french takes longer to type out :P Makes our short stories look like novels. :D
I envy you your fishing opps. It'll be a while before I can do the same. :(

If I was to go for a new one, it would be this one (http://www.fleetwoodrv.com/brandtomodel/floorplan.aspx?brand=highlander&m=Niagara)
Just at the upper limit of the truck's weight capacity, but the dealer here has a garage that specialises in the small tricks that let you flex that limit somewhat.
my wife wants one of those pop-up doohickeys. says we're too old for the tent. :(

I've tented. I've trailered. I'll take waking up on a bed, thanks. Working fridge, stove, AC (ever see a tent with AC? I have.) Not washing dishes in the pissing rain. Not panicing that the wind is gonna blow out your Coleman. Being a foot off the ground as a new river forms through your campsite.
Gonz, I'll make you a deal. If you buy one, pick a location half way between us and I'll meet you, and we'll do the weekend together. I'll show you the joy of not-so-roughing-it.
my argument is, at that point, stay in a hotel & go to the park. geting your trailer 8 miles off the nearest road & popping it up in a handy valley takes some serious back muscles.
although, yea, it is harder to sit up in the AM after having rocks form your bed at night.

(do ya get the feeling I've already had this conversation?)
In a hotel, you never (if you're lucky) meet your neighbours. In a trailer campsite, you can't help but meet them. And setup might have been difficult once upon a time, but not anymore. Fully powered setups are an option on most upper end popups. Push a button, and up goes the roof. Pull out the beds, and install a prop rod for the canvas. That's about it. Unless you're wanting to hook up the hot and cold running water, the 120V AC, the drainage, heated mattresses, etc.
But if you're seriously wanting to get into that little valley, this (http://www.jayco.com/html/catalog/product.php?prod_id=85) is what you want. "15" off-road Dunlop® Mud Rovers (tires)" should get you where you want to go.
this is my idea (http://valchev.net/peter/images/backpacking.jpg) getting off to a little valley. No roads. Now that I see that pic, I wanna find that place.
