*puts on her Prof hat*
No, you've put aside your personal beliefs for the wellbeing of your wife and son. You are a MAN, not a sinner.
Did I get that about right Prof? :D

No. He's a sinner alright. Lemme know if you ever manage to find out where they buried Hoffa.
You will surely burn in Hell

Company rumor...the owner of our company was one of the last to see him alive
Company rumor...the owner of our company was one of the last to see him alive
So, ask him. Enquiring minds wanna know.
If I find out & tell you, I'll have to kill ya. It's in the contract
Who wants to start a pool on when Gonz files his first grievance?
I had a grievance filed against me within 1 month of being hired.
Hmm, can you grieve being forced to join a union?
I believe he has avoided the Christmas rush
and already 'got it done'

I don't think filing it here counts. :D

Yes you can grieve being forced into a union... but you usually end up in a shallow grave before it reaches arbitration.
dont worry Gonz. that bitter taste of being forced to join something you dont want to will fade in time.
either that or you'll get used to it.
I'm still threatening to attend meetings :evilcool:
So just what do you do there?
I drive around in circles, moving trailers in & out of the docks. Several times a night I go over to the GM assembly plant (literally across the street) so they can get parts they need to make pickups. I average about 17 miles day (well, night)
That actually sounds tougher than
running an inter-city route!
But it is like regular hours, holidays and weekends off, right?
So how’s it pay?

Being forced to join something you no longer believe in. Serves ya right, Lincoln lover. :evilcool:

8 hours a day (some OT), 5 days a week, no weekends, paid insurance, great match on the 401, pay is crappy but tolerable for a city job. Using that google map thingy, you can see how much fun it is. It shows how many trailers is in our yard at any given time & it's a bunch.
Hey Hillbilly....bite me
What's the address so we can use the google map ourselves?
It doesn't show up that way(the street name has changed) SW side of Fort Wayne, intersection of I69 & I469. The huge building to the west is GM. Just west of there are 2 or 3 buildings, north to south. We're in the southern most building with the trailers sittings all along the perimeter & many in the docks
40* 57' 46.29" N
85* 18' 59.64" W
this the place?
(couldnt find the little circle thing for degree, so i used a *)
looks like the one. That brown field to the north is now GMs & it they paved paradise to put up a parking lot & a building...we have 4 guys running those loads exclusively & the next one north is a car carrier joint...$1.05 per loaded mile (I may end up applying there) (not sure what that little one in the NW is
This it? I can't get anything to show up that displays latitude and longitude on google maps.
If so, geez, looks like it's about a 10-mile commute while staying in the same town.

Technically, yes. I'm on lay off (unemployment paid) until further notice;
however,
I spent yesterday going thru the DOT requirements for another.
I'm currently vacationing.
You have unlimited unemployment?? Here you only get so many weeks of unemployment per year...
Oh, and get a haircut and a real job ya lazy bum!! :D
twenty something weeks. we can't live on it though :(
It's gonna be a short lived vacation from the Teamsters :devious:
It's not a REAL job when yer unionized anyway...they have to go through so much hassle to fire you that you have to do something pretty bad before you even have to worry about getting canned :p
It's gonna be a short lived vacation from the Teamsters :devious:
Nah. I've already taken the DOT physical/pee in a cup test for a non-union (real) job.
Who wants to start a pool on when Gonz files his first grievance?
Feb 2007. Just to be an ass because the boss was dumber'n a stump.
However, I am gainfully employed by a growing company that is decidedly not union, wants to stay that way & seems okay. I didn't walk out on my first day...that's always a big plus. Month long vacations are great until the 2nd week & you relaize you ain't got no money honey.
Non union is a good thing. Congrats!
Good luck with the new job.
Hard to believe you'd work for a union and especially accept unemployment considering your political views.
But congrats on the new job. :toast:
I worked for a union company because I liked the job.
Unemployment is paid for by my previous (union) employer.
Why would I not take his money? It's not a government handout (although, it can be argued that it's a forced wage tax)
Wanna see a crooked businessman? Manuel "Matty" Maroun may be one of the best.
Things must be different over here, the union don't employ you. It is the company who employs you and you are free to join the union if you want to and if there's one.
The union doesn't employ you here either (I am pretty sure the states is the same as here) but when you work for a unionized employer you have to join the union.
A company may have employees who belong to a union. Part of the union contract may be a stipulation that all employees join the union. In some instances that clause isn't there. There is some bs way around that too. The union can sue you for the equivalent of dues for some crap. (contracting on your behalf or somesuchshit)
but when you work for a unionized employer you have to join the union.
Shouldn't that be illegal?
I mean, unions should be an option not a requirement
I worked for a union company because I liked the job.
Well if you lked the job then I see.

It's not as simple as that. Unemployment is paid from taxes on all employers. It's tax money.
The unions have been cut back here - possibly too far at one time - they have slightly come back a tad- but in a much more reduced form and the days of Union power have mutated into obscurity.
Yet given that re-balance, they also perform a necessary role -
though it is largely primarily outdated nowadays - but a check does need to be there, and in that role alone they have some value.
Public or private- if it is effectively a closed shop enviroment, in any given workforce or Company, that needs looking at.
During the sweatshop heydays of the 30's, they were a help to the worker.
In 2007, they are the lazy brother in law club who punish hard work & reward ineptness. I was actually told to slow down by my union "brothers".

And you did too, didn't you, you fucking pussy.
Bite me ya old fart. I did whatever the hell I wanted, as usual. I can't work as slow as they want-I'd fall asleep.
