Just an update:
I changed ISP on the 7th of May, and all submissions that had been sent between then and now would have most likely ended up in the wrong place.
So if you sent a pic between now and then and it hasn't been uploaded to the gallery, then chances are it has met with the great void :eek:
Everything should be in order now, so please submit again ;)
OK, another update.
I managed to retrieve my email from my ex-ISP anyway. Aparently they haven't fully de-activated my account yet.
Fury, MuFu and 747FlightEngineer's photos will be uploaded shortly ;)

but why would she need one of those?
:D cause I have a real old crummy computer with no usb ports, which means I can't hook up the camera I bought, as it connects to the computer via usb. (or something like that) So I'm snafu'd at the moment, 'til I get out and pick one up. And because of hubby's hours (my car's hours therefore) and my lazy ass, it's gonna be awhile. :D

Don't spend your money on a usb card....
Spend it on a new mobo/ram/cpu/case.
After I purchase my house, get the mortgage payments rocking, get house insurance, buy my kids shoes and back to school stuff, get the dog fixed before it's too late, build a fence, fix the car, buy another car, do a few incidental house repairs, buy a new washer/dryer, put an addition onto the kitchen so I can move in there and install a normal size oven (which I also have to buy), and in the meantime pay all the other monthly bills and incidentals, that will be first on my list.
Poverty sucks.
All right, take your car (if it starts ;) ) and go to a friend's house and download the images, email them to you, and post them here.
That's the cheaper i can think....

Hey Leslie, don't feel bad. Up until September I was running a Pentium 133 with 32mB of RAM, a 14" monitor and like 4 gB of harddrive space. The only reason I have a better one now is because brainsoft sold it to me for a hellva deal! $325 for a Celeron 400! It had either 96mB of RAM when i got it but now has 192mB (my brother's friend GAVE him a 128 stick). *sigh* slow computers are sucky. Makes me sad.

Les, look on the motherboard. You may find that you DO have USB. Many boards have headers for USB and you just need to buy a $5 piece which has the ports and a short cable to go to the header on the mobo.

Damn i should have know that too, most motherboards supporting chips ove 150MHz have built in USB (with or without connectors).
Leslie: i don't know the name of the piece in english, but i'm sure you can get the mobo's manual read what type of connector it has, and you can buy one even at officedepot. (i think there are 2 types of connectors, one has one row and the other has 2).

wow, i've used that board before, totally forgot that it had native usb support, yes, that'll work, but make sure you plug em in right, wrong way even if nothings connected to the ports can smoke the headers :D

i've decided to do a full reinstall of the os' onto the new hdd, my current install of win2k is getting a but flaky. losing that admin account really seemed to do it in.
but i'll copy all the data over from the other drive as a slave [assuming it lasts that long, bloody 75gxp]. i've backed all my stuff up, 15cd's on my desk of drive g and another 10 from work

Yes, i got a 8.4GB for about 5 years or so, no problems whatsover, though i have had a few dead WD's, Maxtors,Quantums and seagates, no brand comes close to the GXP death rate i had, 1 HDD of my own personally rma'd 4 times and a bunch of client machines going dead :o
uhhhhh, personal failures are bad enough but client ones must be awful :mad2:

For the moment, I've been defaulting user details to HWC's, unless otherwise specified you want your OTC details provided. I'm going through some ideas in my head for an improved design that may better incorporate details from both sites.
For my sake, I'd like to keep it as simple as possible. You've also noticed I've been using the default user titles. Again I did that for simplicity sake. It's one of those things users can frequently update and change, so using the default ensures some form of continuity ;)

Hey, if you've got PHP capability, I could probably whip up something that will let you automatically get user details from OTC (e.g. rank, posts, location, etc)
I would do it with HWC too, except I don't think they'll let that fly (it'd require putting a script on the server that gets accessed every time the photo gallery gets accessed)
As far as I'm aware, my webspace doesn't support PHP. It's just ya' basic 5MB free webspace from the ISP ;)
All things going well, I will be getting some real web-hosting in the not so distant future and it will likely support PHP, for my portfolio. If that plan comes good, I'll move the members gallery there as well.
Besides, my widdle 5MB is nearly full :o

Harris, Luther, 1902–81, American librarian and political scientist, b. Bastrop co., Tex. After teaching political science at several universities, he became director of the Historical Records Survey under the Work Projects Administration (1935). In 1939 he was appointed director of the legislative reference service of the Library of Congress. Evans was chief assistant librarian of Congress from 1940 to 1945, when he was appointed Librarian.
