Our first REAL snow in Colorado. Everything else has just been a dusting or sprinkle of snow. We are now on Winter Storm Warning, which basically means, if you hit another car while driving, you are SOL and will have to deal with it after it snows. Roads are icy, people are driving like tards, and I am warming us up with homemade southern style chicken and dumplings.
Yummmmm....In Co the altitude is a bit high so the dumplings never come out perfect, but they are good enough to eat so that is all we worry about. :D
i'm watching it snow in denver on the tv. broncos/raiders game. looks mighty frosty.
I would be quite content with getting no snow at all in Hamilton.
It can snow starting on Dec 18 in brampton (a nice coating the night of the 18th) because we're going to cut our tree on the 19th...and it can then keep snowing off and on (especially christmas eve) until mid jan and then stop :)
We've had it on the ground all week. The kids woke up and cried today cause it rained overnight and it's all melted away now.

We already had a big snowfall as a low pressure system that went south of us ended up giving us a ton of it off of the lake Wednesday, in fact set the record for that date as we got nearly 4 inches. Driving was a nightmare for most people as I-90 was totally crammed from Huntley (so far out it's not even really a suburb, closer to Rockford) to downtown, nearly 60 miles. My brother was smart to call us first and not even try that road that night. It's all melted already cause it hasn't been all that cold, still hovering around freezing.

We had a couple of inches Wednesday. It's all gone.
Saturday afternoon I was tryin to get them to go outside and go sledding or boarding or somethin. They told me it's boring and cold and they didn't wanna.
It's gonna be a loooooooooong winter.

I'm itching for the first decent snowfall. We've had a few flurries but nothing stuck at all. :(
Gimme 12" of sticky snow and watch me go. Love the stuff...looking forward to snowmen, snowballs, sledding, forts etc...
Winter is my fav season :D
The only thing that I want this Chrstmas is an RPG and a box of grenades...for the snowplow operators. They are the REAL bastards of winter!

Make 'em shovel the sidewalks...Then let slip that neighbors sometimes pay for such a task. They'll be gone at least 3 hours a day, hawking their skills. :devious:

So the snow is there, eh? Groovy...now keep it there. I hate the stuff. No, it isn't pretty. No it isn't peaceful. No, it isn't refreshing. Yes, it can feel quite like the holidays without it.
Bah and humbug indeed.

But don't you get time off from work when it snows? I don't, but I like to watch the idiots thinking four-wheel-drive means they can stop on a dime on ice...Happens here in SC every time it snows. :D

Is not! 1" is a blizzard. 1/2 inch is a Nor'easter. ;)

As long as it stays up in the mountains I'm happy. it ain't no fun snowshoeing on mud though, so hopefully a lot falls this winter up there.

Hell, no. Unless it's bad enough to completely shut the office (ain't gonna happen), I need to be here. Last time it snowed here, it dropped about 3 inches. In to work I went.

But some of us LIVE in the mountains!
OK, granted, the southern Appalachians not the Canadian Rockies, but still...Hate the damn stuff.

I love all those things about winter too...but now that I have responsibilities I do not enjoy winter so much because it's a pain in the arse to have to get anywhere or get anything done when it's snowing.

3 inches??? :rofl4:
3 INCHES?!
I've seen close to 12 fall overnight here and nothing close down
With that said...Hamilton is like the king of snow clearing...no help from the armed forces needed here...long story short...Hamilton is half "moutain" (niagara escarpment) and half not...there are a few cuts up the mountain and they're quite steep. One snowy, incey day long long ago so stupid southerner figured it was just some snow and she could take the hairpin turn at the posted speed limit despite the warning signs saying that the road gets very slippery...she went off the side of the mountain...she died...the city got sued SO much money and lost. Now, the city of Hamilton alone could support an entire salt company and they have the clearest roads around.
We had about three inches last Wednesday. The ground was still too warm for it all to stick though, it was gone by Thanksgiving Dinner. The kids enjoyed it though, they got out and made a snowman Wednesday night, he lasted til Friday.
Precisely, Nix, you're equipped to handle it. I think the city might own 3 salt trucks down here. In addition, it doesn't get cold enough here for real snow. We usually have an ice layer under it, which adds a whole new dimension of fun.

Worst storm I was in was a blizzard in Germany. Dumped 3 feet overnight. What a friggin nightmare that was. We spent the next two days of the field exercise digging ourselves out of the building we were sleeping in.

It was for Nixy and the rest of the toronto crowd. If they get more than 3 inches (poor women) they close up the city and call in the army.

DAT is army for "Dumb-Ass-Tanker" ...meaning he was part of a tank crew. Since the M1A1 came on line, and they've got modern electronics, it becomes CDAT, or, "Computerized-Dumb-Assed-Tanker"...Just another colorful part of your nations military history, right PostCode? :grinyes:

except I do not and have never lived in Toronto
I live in Hamilton now, and my momma lives in Brampton
So, NAH
In fact...if you look up at my previous posts *I* even made a dig at the T-dot stating how the god ol' Hammer can handle the snow without the armed forces help :p

Of course. It was back in 89, I think, down in Hohenfels. We got to play OPFOR that time around so we went out during the day, let the good guys shoot us up, then went back to sleep in the barracks at night.

OK, fine, Brampton is like a suburb of the toronto suburbs...but, Hamilton is far enough west that it is PAST Toronto...I mean, there has to be a barrier or else like f-in' Vancouver could be Toronto...Hamilton is the first Major city west of Toronto...it's something completely seperate...a lot of people here don't even know squat about Toronto.

Done it. Heat goes up, Inky. You lay down a bed of 8"-12" logs and build your fire on that. No problems.
