We went away over the weekend, it was a four hour drive northeast, and there seems to be a conspiracy :eek6: in that there were NO Tim Horton's Coffe Shop anywhere :crying6: along the way. We reached the destination and none in the vicinity, on the way home, we chose another route where we'd be guaranteed to find one (Highway 401).

And after 70 kilometers, there it was, a beautiful sight to behold... and $3.00 later, *sighs happily* manna from heaven...

Is there a coffeeshop you yearn for?

Caribou Coffee. Its not in too many markets... but it sure beats the hell outta Starbucks or Seattles Best.

*will only drink Starbucks if really really desperate*

I like Borders coffee ... but here we have a few local coffee shops and they're excellent .. I love Kope Kope and Java Junction ... absophreakinglutely phabulous .. if you're ever on the island Leslie, we'll go get coffee .. then when we're wide awake, we'll drink beer for the rest of the night :D

Even thou, my gastroenterologist (sp??) forbid me to drink coffee about 2 years ago (until i was cured), i got cured, and i'm not a coffee drinker anymore (decided to quit it).

Chai is an type of tea drink from India. It can be served hot, or as I like it, iced. It does have a lot of spices in it, but I wouldn't say it's like drinking a potpourri garden.

If you don't like the taste or smell of cloves, you definitely want to stay away.

You can read more about it here http://webxina.kerchunk.com/recipebox/general/general14.html.

I've never made it myself. I usually buy it from Barnes & Noble or Barnie's Coffee & Tea. I think Barnie's makes the best.

Does anyone drink coffee all day long? I don't see how people can do that. I have two cups in the morning and that's all.

Sorry, [b], but tea is for ladies sitting on the front porch. D Chai is nothing more than clove tea, so only the age of the ladies has changed. Fresh Ground Gourmet Coffee (Swiss Mocha Mint) is much better. I buy the beans, drop them in the grinder with cocao beans in a 75-25 coffee to chocolate ratio. The mint is added during the brewing process as whole leaf. Figure around 2 leaves per cup, depending on leaf size.

Gato, I drink tea as well. I rather like it... and for the most part I have to because I'm mildly allergic to coffee. I can't do coffee 2 days in a row and come out unscathed. I use tea on the odd days... because... dammit... we all know we need the caffeine. I can rely upon sodas for off day caffeine, because, remember, I am ever the more allergic to the corn syrup they use. Chai is drinkable in my eyes. You can make it with a caffeine wallop that would be equal to espresso. The only thing I dont like about chai is that its so overpowering that it frags your tastebuds for nigh on 20 minutes.

Sorry unc. I drink tea on occasion as well, but the smilie was supposed to make that statement 'tongue-in-cheek'.

Rusty used to make cold Chai at home... We had the tea leaves and would make the hot tea, then add honey, milk, cinnamon and ice. It wasn't bad, he likes it. But it's not my cup of tea. ;)

I have always been a coffee person, I used to drink coffee all day and chain smoke when I worked weekends instead of eating. I was thin but very unhealthy.

The deli near me has a great house blend that they make, that's what I prefer. I don't like Starbucks, except for the Lite Note or Breakfast Blend. All the rest of their stuff is too strong for me.

When I'm traveling for work, if I can find a Wawa, I'm happy with their Hazelnut coffee. I love Hazelnut flavor. *yummy*

I've recently become addicted to Dunkin Donuts' Mocha Coolata. Definately not a coffee-type drink, but delicious nontheless.

I hate coffee. *ducks*

I don't even like the smell of it. Which makes the missus happy to no end, since she loves it. I won't even drink out of a cup that's been used for coffee.

That makes sense... Coffee permeates ceramic. I guess only a stainless steel cup is safe from absorbing coffee residue?

unclehobart

I use glass mugs for my coffee. Nothing sticks to that... and it doesnt get as hot as steel.

Altron
8/21/06, 01:40pm
Nope.

I am fucking hungry. I was working late last night, so I didn't get any dinner, and when I got home, all I had the supplies for was a jelly sammich.

This morning, I was out of bread, so I just drank a bunch of ice tea. Luckily, Sawhney89 is going to get me some lunch when I teach him how to parallel park. My mom still has the digicam, so no embarrassing pics of him :(

Professur
8/21/06, 01:41pm
Yeah, Baby. Learn to parallel park in a boat, and you can park anything.

Altron
8/21/06, 01:44pm
We're gonna have to keep him in his Scooby, it's what he knows. If we started six months ago in the boat, he would be a champ. This is the day before the test, so I'm not going to switch cars on him.

I hope 4WD cars don't handle too differently turning at slow speeds. I have some FWD experience, but I've never ever driven a 4WD car.

2000 Scooby Legacy.

So, I drive it to the parking lot down the street. I needed to adjust the seat like crazy in order to fit properly. It seems to be designed for a smaller person. I am used to riding low, so I needed to move the seat all the way back and recline it a lot, and the short steering column isn't giving me as much control as I would like. Not to mention, the floor shifter takes some getting used to. It's a wonder why they don't use more column shifters, they're much better. It's a goofy gated design, which makes it really easy to miss D4 and put it in third.

But DAMN, that four wheel drive is NICE. I didn't try as hard as I could, but I did try, and I couldn't get my ass to slide out. There's soooo much traction. The car was leaning like crazy and I was doing things that would make the boat do a donut, and the scooby kept going. Fun little car.

Altron
8/21/06, 02:45pm
Oh, and the reason I'm posting this is because Sawhney89 does not have a measuring tape. We needed to drive home to get mine.

Sawhney89
8/21/06, 05:52pm
The T-Man has taught me how to park... Hopefully I pass my test tommrow. I hit the curb a few times and prob. gave my car a few scarcthes but in the end, I learned how to park while Altron felt himself and warmed up pizza via the exhaust and sun. :beardbng:

Altron
8/21/06, 06:00pm
Sawhney89 actually managed to take off one of those mudflap things on the back left wheel, and managed to almost hit my car a few times.

First I was being helpful, then I was trying to distract him so that he would be able to do it under pressure. I put on a variety of music while either sleeping or talking about something completely not related to driving or while singing along loudly.

He's alright at it. I'm gonna have to swing by after work and have him practice some more.

And, for the first time, one of my friends has dared to drive the boat (Only people who ever have driven it have been my parents and me, my mom put less than 100 miles on it and my dad put less than 250 on it). See, I told you that there's nothing to be afraid of.
