Well, since I didn't know the answer to anyone elses, I'll start my own.
First question:
Who wrote the song "I'm a Believer" that the Monkees had a big hit with.
Let's treat this one like the movie thread. First correct answer gets to go next.
(no longhair references Natalie:P )
I have to assume it wasn't Michael Nesmith. That would be too easy...:eh:
I'll take a shot at Mick Jagger. Sounds like his stuff.
Then again...Carol King is always a possibillity...:D

Nope and nope, but your getting warmer. Did Carol King write any monkees songs?
There was a time when it seemed Carol King wrote every song ever written :tardbang:

No there wasn't, although it did seem that way.
Ok..if it wasn't Jagger but the guess was warmer, I have to jump to George Harrison.

What prolific songwriter wrote this:
Why are there so many songs about rainbows,
and what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide
So we've been told and some choose to believe it,
I know they're wrong, wait and see
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection
the lovers, the dreamers and me
and this:
We've only just begun
To live
White lace and promises
A kiss for luck and we're on our way
Before the rising sun
We fly
So many roads to choose
We start out walking and learn to run
And yes we've just begun
and this:
Talkin' to myself and feelin' old
Sometimes I'd like to quit
Nothin' ever seems to fit
Hangin' around
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Mondays
Always get me down
Go ahead, unc. we both know it's right, even if squiggs ain't paying attention.
It may be because of this:
Hey Gonz... I'll risk a banning and throw a big fuck You your way for that remark about color. See ya.

Paul Williams? It is pretty strange, because I have a friend named Paul Williams.
Burt Baccarach (sp?) ........ the dude who wrote all the Carpenters and Dionne Warwick stuff anyway..

Okay, I'm thinking that this should be easy. Who performed the song "Buttermilk Biscuits"?

ahem, tonksy, it's all you...
oops...my bad....um....i'm on pain meds and on a tad of a time line so i'll just give it to the first person that can name 3 coversongs performed by phil collins.
Shit... the only one I can think of off the top of my head is "groovy kind of love"
Erm......that one from the movie Buster
inky - well...that's one...and a very good one.
oz - buster?
oz - buster?
Was a rather cheesy movie where Phil Collins played one of the great train robbers from the 60's :D (don't bother renting it, it's shite ;)
But, on a more positive note, I have remembered the name of a song he coveverd "You Can't Hurry Love" one of the old motown wotsits :swing:
okay...so we have groovy kind of love and can't hurry love....next person with an answer shall be the big weiner...shall i hint? think 80's and orange hair for the original artist (of one more cover, anyway)

Hmm, Orange hair? 80's? That'd be DeLight - Groove is in the Heart! :lloyd:
Although.....admittedly...I'm having a lil' trouble imagining big Phil singing it :eh:
Cyndi Lauper?
yes...it was a cyndi cover...title anyone?
oz....there are simply no words for the image i now have in my head....
True Colours (note the incorrect spelling, but I bet it's spelled that way on the album. :P )
He also covered Dylan's "The Times They Are a' Changing" and Cat Stevens' "Father to Son." Honestly, I forgot about "Can't Hurry Love."
Okay, who did Cyndi co-write "Time After Time" with?

I think it was always her song...
I think it was always her song...
I had to fix that, covers on the brain...
She co-wrote it with a member of another band that was popular at the time. They released it around the same time, although only Cyndi's was released as a single. She was really hot at the time.
Thought I'd get really obscure for a change.
Okay, okay, too obscure (I could've asked what label Tim Hardin recorded on. ). I used to have the other album.
Easy one, who wrote the Van Morrison hit "Into the Mystic?"

Wild guess...Michael Bolton?
Wild guess...Michael Bolton?
Sorry, not a bad guess though.
You mean Michael Bolton actually wrote a song?
You mean Michael Bolton actually wrote a song?
several ;)
Well over half of what he records, in fact. It's how he got started in the business.
Hint: the same guy wrote "Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me" that Linda Rondstadt had a big hit with.
*Side note: You can still buy yourself a hammer at Rondstadt's Hardware in Tucson.*
I'm going to have to go with Warren Zevon on that one.
In honor of the passing of "Weird Al" Yankovic's parents, here's a Weird Al-related question:
Where did Weird Al record the first version of "My Bologna," his parody of "My Sharona" by the Knack?
How much longer should I wait until I give out the answer and try a new question?
My Bologna was recorded in a bathroom while Al was working for a radio station I believe....or I could be wrong...:-D
Close enough. He was a DJ for KCPR, the campus radio station at Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, CA, where he earned his degree in architecture. He recorded the original version of the song in the bathroom across the hall from the studio.
As an aside, I got his box set, Permanent Record/Al in the Box, soon after it came out. That original version of My Bologna was supposed to be on there, but Scotti Bros. goofed and included the album version (he re-recorded it with his full band behind him for his 1983 self-titled debut album). I'd always wondered why the "Capitol Records Single Version" sounded exactly the same as the album version, but I didn't know the answer until 9 years after I got the box set. Apparently the snafu was fixed for later editions.
Anyways, you're up.
Alright....on Dirty Vegas' self-titled album, (The one with Days Go By on it), what old song do they do a cover of?
