Since we don't really have a logo yet, whoever wants to make one can post it here, and then we'll vote to see which one we'll use. :)
could you give us the rgb or cmyk markers for the green that makes up the site headers? makes for accuracy in colour match.

Do a screenshot and paste it into MS Paint... then use the lil eye dropper to copy the green? :D
Fury should know the RGB stuff, I don't have access to those settings. :(
i'd use a screenshot but the colours won't be accurate, you get distortion in tone. when fury gets a free sec that'll be fine.

The green strip color is HTML code #009900, don't know right off hand what RGB value that is
Does it have to be in any particular format? I mean dimension-wise.

thanks for the info fury, i know it sounds picky but i believe in getting the right info in before i start designing anything, and the green is important to me.
i'll see if i can turn anything out over the weekend, i have loads of drawings to do for my masters oral exam, and work avoidance is all to easy :)

after all the asking for the green i couldn't match it very well at on the first try. i can always have another go at it if i get bored with drawing up

I kind of like that ris... though, just a bit more might not hurt... like spelling out "Central." Other than that, very tasteful.

I knew about the colors, just hadn't had time yet, no biggie.:D problem is now, with the correct coloring, the file is 265KB, too big to upload. Hell if I know why.

I'm concerned about how the color will blend in with the heading bar? Perhaps the layout of the page could be altered so that it works fine. :( ?(
my guess is that you are thinking of a centrally located logo where the current words are, while the design is for the entire header bar, which is a little cheeky on my part D
good point though, the intention was [and this is where the rgb stuff came in] to match the green of the site in the vertical line that sits behind the 't' of ot.
best thing to do is define how you see the logo working [central at the top or entire header, repeated at other parts of the site, that sort of stuff]
I did this one for HWC case badge thing in 2000
Could be easily modified.

Yeah, I was thinking it was just going to be inserted in the middle of the header bar... that would look pretty strange.
I think it would look good on either the right or left sides (doesn't seem like something symmetric that should be in the middle, but I'm no architect ;)). I assume you're intending to extend the "pattern" across the entire header... that would look pretty good.
I'm still wondering how it will look with all of the other plain-ass blocks of green around. I would probably have to see it to be able to get a good idea... I've never been good with visualizing colors. :(
the question of positioning has been going through my mind and i'm still not sure quite what the solution is. as i said my intention was always to just take over the whole bar [designer meglomania :D], but that might not be the best approach.
blending in is less of a problem i think, as long as the background shades are based on [or actually contain block of] the green that forms the borders of the rest of the site.
perhaps i'll do a mu fu style screenshot to see if it works.
it's amazing how somehting so straightforward can get so complex when you really think about it :)
*edit - if it is on either side then it's on the right, that much i do know

Yeah, I was thinking right as well - looked like you intended it to be that way. I guess you could center otcentral on the header, and fill in on each side... but I kind of like the way it looks now.

Wow, seven posts in a row!
But I still like ris's. ;) It's just so classy and elegant. It would really set this forum apart from the dozens of others out there (as far as looks anyway).

I tried to make a logo. I'm no artist or photoshop prodigy, so I did what I do best... CAD!
I had a pretty cool 3d textured semi-transparent logo that was pretty sweet looking when OGL rendered spinning around... but it looks pretty lame when sitting still (kind of like a someone tried to make a 3d text in photoshop or something). There's just no one angle it looks good at, but when it's spinning, it looks natural.
Oh well, I still like ris's anyway.

We'll have a vote and see which logo we'll use when fury gets back. Everyone can enter one logo. If there are too
many (more than 10), then the staff members will pick the best 10 and then the people will vote. :)
how shall they be presented [standard width, height etc]?, just for the poor sods with smaller resolutions than 1600x1200 D

We need fury to tell us the correct dimensions. And for the vote, you need to submit your logo by itself, not as a
screenshot. :) But, you can still show off your screenshot here, and maybe at the poll thread. ;)
The image has to fit into a 640x480 browser without scrolling horizontally and not be too high, as excessive having to scroll will piss off people who don't have a mouse wheel to scroll easily with. So, about 620x80 or so would be the max size... smaller the better..
Current one is 34 pixels high, but I do like ris's spiffy nice logo ;)
When is the deadline to have our logos ready for the vote?
